Thou shalt have no other gods before me. This is the first commandment. Just by see it I can tell that I definitely follow this commandment because I just believe in one God, our Father, Jesus Christ. I pray to Him, and I only believe in Him. But what is exactly this “simple” commandment mean?
This means that you put God first in your life. You have to put God first than you, your kids, spouses, parents, friends, money, hobbies, jobs, etc, etc, etc. Now lest re-think about this commandment, do I truly follow it? Would I be able to no sit in front of the TV and read a scripture? Would I be able to not miss one game for go to church? Would I be able to do not spend money in “miscellaneous things” and just give that money to someone that truly needs it? Would I be able to do something special for somebody else without expect something in exchange?
Following God will help us to comply with this “simple” commandment. What are you doing to demonstrate God that He is number one in your life?
Matthew 19:16-24
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

My dear fellow believer, you are not "quite" obeying this commandment as you should because, there is indeed solely ONE GOD, the Father
however, the Father is NOT Jesus Christ!
Rather, our Lord Jesus Christ,
is the Son of the ONE GOD
[Matt 16.16],
the Son of the Father.
[2 John 3]
Jesus ascended to his GOD/Father and our GOD/Father.
[John 20.17]
He identified his Father
as the only true GOD & the only GOD
[John 17.3, 5.44]
He taught us, his followers, to "pray" to the Father
[Matt. 6.9ff]
and to worship the Father.
[John 4.23-24]
And in Heaven, Jesus declared 4 times that he has "a GOD" i.e.
(Rev 3:12) Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Even in Mark's KJV version of the verses shown below,
Jesus declares:
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
[Mark 10.18 Also Luke 18.19]
Likewise the early church concurred with their Master:
(1 Cor 8:4) ... that there is none other God but one.
(1 Cor 8:6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, ...
