You Shall Not Covet

You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's (Deuteronomy 5:21).
. A commentary from yesterday makes me think in this commandment. How may time we which have that house, or that car, that job, that happiness, that marriage, those kids, that degree, and so on. Why everybody wants what they don’t have? People with curly hair wants straight hair, people with straight hair want curly hair, people that are tall would like to be shorter and short people would like to be taller, and so on too!

I believe that we should be grateful with what we have, but also, I believe that if we want something is because that something is good for us, and not because our neighbor have it.  I want a better job, well I have to work hard to get a better job, for me, for my family not because my friend have a better job than me. I want a better marriage,  work harder to get it, no try to imitated others marriages because will not get better just worse. I think is ok for us to want be better, furthermore is good (just my opinion) take others people blessings, and use it as encourage to want be better. I have friends that I see how the are so rich spiritually, and so close to God, that I want that too, I don’t envy them, I take them as example, and inspiration for me to do the same, not because they have it, but because is something good for me.

I believe is not wrong want to be better, progress, and have good things, with what we have to be very careful is the reason in our hearts of why we want that. I want it because everybody have it? Or I want it because is convenient for me? I am learning something, when I go buy things I buy it because I need it or because I can look like someone else? I buy it because will help me or because I want apparent what I’m not? This is a good tip to avoid this commandment, and to save some money!!!

1 Timothy 6:10

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery

Thou shalt not commit adultery; this one is so easy to fall in it.  Not too long time ago I learn that is not so simple as its sounds. “As long I’m not with a married man or woman, I will be fine” that is the way most people think. But this commandment go litter bit further than what we think. The word lust means something for you? I did not know the definition in Spanish so I ignore it. Lust have the same meaning as desire, envy, you want something or someone.

I am a really big fan of Chayanne a puertorrican singer that I admire, and like very much. Couple years ago I tell to one of my son that he was his father but that Chayanne did not know it.  Of course I was teasing and joking with him, but how wrong I was, first because how I can say that to my kid??? And second I desired him, and that is just not right. Could sound silly or insignificant but that is how wrong things starts. First you just think about it, and you laugh, and stay in you head, then you say it out loud, and then is a joke, and keep escalating until is something normal to you. When you do not expected you have the opportunity, and you will see it as something not so bad or not bad at all.

We tend to play around with our love one (partners) making comments that refers to someone for the opposite sex, comments that can be “just joking” but are wrong, because create insecurities in the relationship, create low self-esteem to your partner, because indirectly we are been unfaithful to our spouse, boyfriends, special one (however you want to call it) and definitely is adultery.

One last thing if you are single and you are with someone that is married or is in a relationship you are double sinner because you are in adultery but also are making someone else commit adultery too.

Matthew 5:28

28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Thank You

I don’t know if have been laziness or too much homework from school or what? But have been out a little bit. Every day I get up, and fight with my kids to get ready for school, ride a bus, train, and trolley to get work, and do the same going back home. I get to do tons of things during the day in and out of work. I don’t have much of free time. Every day or almost every day is the same routine. Sometimes I get tire or bored or worse get mad, and with very little patient.

Today when I get to my bus stop to get out and take the trolley, from the back of the bus was coming a blind guy which of course didn’t see me that I was getting out so I wait to him pass and then get out.  The bus driver warns him that we were one lane further than we usually are.  The guy said thanks, get down from the bus and start walking his way, I guess going work? Why I complain about my everyday routine? I have the chance to see my kids every day, to see the beautiful sunset or sunrise every day. Why complain of all the things that I have to do?

Will be better if I start thanking God for my eyes, my hearing, my good health, because I have a job, because I can go back to school and get crazy with the homework, thanks God because I have my siblings, parents and friends around me and I can reach at them when ever I want. Why complain about how tire I am? Why I just don’t get up and walk around and enjoy the outside? I have legs that can take me anywhere I want.

Today that blind man remained me how lucky I am and how ungrateful I tend to be sometimes. Do you have something to thanks God today?

 1 Thessalonians 5:18

18Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

Spread the Word

I am going to use the today “Good Morning My Friends” to create share thoughts.  If you would like to participate will be great because will help everyone share, and spread God’s word to everybody around us.  At the end of the day that is what God’s wants from us, right?

If you have a friend that would like to know more about God, How do you will help him/her to get closer to God without pressure?  How often do you talk to someone else about God? And how do you feel when you talk about God?

Here are my questions; I help someone get closer to God, making an invitation to go to the church, sharing a book, hearing what are their questions about God, talking about my experiences. I love to talk (thanks dad!) so I talk very often more than before about God.  Yesterday I was trying to hurry up before the traffic light change to red and I start saying “please, please don’t change” I pass the light and then I said, “thank you, thank you!!!” my son ask me to whom I was thanking. I answer him “to God” and then I start taking to him about it. So I guess I talk about God every time I see an opportunity.  I feel great! And feel like a good person when I talk about God to others.

Mark 16:15
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Honor Your Father and Your Mother

Honor your father and your mother. This commandment I think is the one I follow the best of all (I think) my parents has to say something about it! I remember as a child almost every Sunday we have to visit our grandparents. This was a routine for us. We go there, and stay there for at least 30 minutes. Maybe at that moment I didn’t see the importance of the visit, today I totally understand it, and even that I don’t follow the visits so close like my parents did.

Honor means obey, we should obey our parents because God give them that responsibility. We as parents must guide our kids to the right path. I always tell my kids; in this world there is nobody that wants the best for you than your parents. This is true in most cases.  I know cases of parents that never take care of their kids, or abusive parents. Also, I know cases parents who neglect their kids and still, the kids love them, stay with them until the end. That is honoring your father and your mother.

Even that I am in my 30’s my parents still and will keep having influences in the decision that I make in my life. I also believe, this commandment includes all people that are older than us.  Our parents are older, wiser; they have more experience in live than us. This means that we should honor our elders because they are older, wiser, and have more experience in life than us. I love talk with people older than me, because they represent wise and experience from which I can learn.

I do not expect that my parents or older people are correct all the time but they deserve the respect and the honor to be listened.

Proverbs 1:8-9

8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. 9 They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
