One Minute

Yesterday was my oldest nice birthday.  She is getting old! Not me J
My family and me had a get together to celebrate her birthday. In some point in the evening we sat in the living room and my brother in law was explaining how he felt from the inner side of the roof of their house.  He telling us that he didn’t realize that he felt until he hit the floor.  The curios part is that where he felt around that spot were a fish tank of maybe 50 gallons, next to that were a big sofa, and in the other side the stairs. The spot were he felt was really small and one inch less or more could end his story differently.

My sister mentioned something that stick it my head.  “All my life could change in that minute” How many times we go through things that can change our life forever? Can you recall in which minute your life gives a 360°?  Can you predict that minute? Could be anything, an accident, sickness, lost of love one, a divorce, and so on and on.

We should be prepared for when that minute appear in our lives. We need to grown our faith in God because He is the only one that will truly give us the strength, and courage that we will need for that moment. Did you speak with God today? What are you doing to strength you faith?  Are you prepared for that minute?

   1 John 2:28-29
28And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. 29If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

Have a great weekend!

When a Bad Thing Turn in a Good Thing

Couple of weeks ago my friend invite me to do out to dance.  I really want to go, I tell my-self girls night-out will be great for me, just dance and have fun. During the day I plan what to wear and was thinking in all the fun that I should have that night.  After lunch, I start feeling a mild headache but I just take pills for the headache and think “I should be fine for tonight” As the day go by my headache keep worse and worse.

I get home eat something lite and try to rest.  My friend calls me to tell me the time she will pick me up, and I tell her that I didn’t feel well.  She encourages me to go and told me that some drinks and dance will make me feel better. I drag my-self to get ready. When I was ready waiting for her I laid down in the couch, and wait for her. By the time she gets to pick me up I was crying for the big headache that I had, and told her I will not make it.

The next day she told me that was good idea that I didn’t went out with her because she saw a guy that will hurt me and mess up my night if I see him that day.  So here is when I realize how a bad thing turns in a positive one.

How many stories like this one we live everyday? How many times we get crazy and forget that what seems a bad thing is truly a good one?  May be at the beginning looks like a curse or something terrible, but at the end you see that was the best for you.  That is why we always should thanks God for the good and bad things that happened to us because everything that happened it is for a good reason. God always will protect us; all we have to do is trust in Him.

  Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
 and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Are You Different?

Driving to my work this morning I was listen the radio.  There were a morning show that were talking about statistics about how women have been in the last years increasing their salaries, they status in the society and how every year more of them are becoming more educated than men.

I believe God made us all equally. He did not say the men must have more power than the women or the women must have more power than men.  In the scriptures is clearly said that God make women, men in His own image.  He did not say black people or Asian people or white people, He clearly make us all in a perfect a way that we all have our place and mission in this world.

Sadly mankind is the only one that have divide “us” in group and we are the ones that created the stereotypes like women are the fragile sex, men are the ones that can study and most have better pay rate at work, black people can not do this, Latin people do not enter here, Asian people have to live in this place, and so and so.

We need to break that barrier that divided us as sons and daughter of God, He loves us no matter color, race, religion, social status, culture, and all the other stereotypes that we put on people.  All what God want for us is that we love Him with all our hearts, soul and spirit and to each other.  I really don’t think that is too much to ask compared with all the blessings that He give us everyday.

Let start trying to not see other people as different than me and lest focus on what God ask us.

Genesis 1:27

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Matthew 22:37-40

37And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

A Calling From Heaven

Yesterday, I was spoken with a friend and she was mentioning me that she had a dream or a vision of the Macarena virgin. More important she told me that she spoke to her and asks her to guide the faith of a girl that is living in her house for a period of time.  The virgin ask her a specific task and important mission.

I was thrill and exited for her, how cool is receiving a command for the virgin so clear and specific?  After she tells me her story all I can say to her was you know now what you have to do now, so start working in you new job!

How many times we have the bliss of receive a direct command from heaven? How many times we understand that God is asking us do something so clearly?  I think that is a blessing for her and an honor to do so important task. Do you know when God ask you to do something? Can you notice when He is calling you?

I can said that have been just a few times when I really have the pleasure to know that He is talking and asking me to do something in specific, like the other day that I felt an electric shock to get up of bed and go to mass or when He ask me to do a witness for a retreat.  All I know is that He knows how to call our attention.

There are so many ways how God talks to us.  Can be through scripture, one that stick on us, through a friend, through some one that we don’t even know but is giving us the answer that we have been looking for, through family, kids, nature. Open your eyes and listen to His call, the satisfaction that you will feel after doing what He asks you are gratifying!

Romans 8:30
30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

Priorities

The other day somebody send me an email of a story of a man that was watching his funeral after he dies of a heart attack.  He was observing how his kids were so depress and crying because he was not anymore with them.  He could watch his wife crying until fall sleep because his absence.  Also, he could see all his co-workers and friends in the office, and his boss preparing the requirements to find a substitute for him.

He try to remember how he die, and start realizing that he die of a heart attack after a problem at work and also, remember that the week he die he promises his kids take them to the park, but he didn’t because he was too busy working.

After two weeks of his funeral in his office there were already the substitute working, and doing his job, at home instead his wife and kids keep suffering the lost.

How many times we give importance to things that is not that important in our lives? How many times we don’t know how to prioritized things in our lives?
How many times we put in first place things that take our positive energy from us, and let us with a sour feeling in our lives?

It is time to learn how to prioritize things in our lives, God have the be number one, our kids and spouse (family) comes right after God, and the rest… am sure we will know what number give them. We have to take care of our-self so that way we can protect our family.

Matthew 6:33-34

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
